![]() RxDart introduces several operators that assist in managing backpressure scenarios in Flutter applications. Backpressure can lead to performance issues or even crashes. It's a condition where the stream is producing data faster than its consumer (subscriber) can handle. ![]() When working with asynchronous programming, specifically streams of data, one common issue that might arise is backpressure. Dealing with Backpressure in Flutter using RxDart Whenever data is added to the stream, it automatically builds the widget. In the example above, a StreamBuilder is implemented that listens to the _subject stream. All you need to do is include it as a dependency in your pubspec.yaml file.ġ import 'package:rxdart/rxdart.dart' 2 3 void main ( ) 36 Setting up RxDart in your Flutter project is a breeze. Especially when dealing with complex functionalities, Flutter RxDart provides ease of use and maintains the flow of data in a precise reactive way.īefore diving into the usage of RxDart in Flutter, we need to set things up. By leveraging RxDart, we can handle these data streams more lively, responsive, and controlled. However, RxDart adds that extra sparkle with more functionalities based on reactive extensions for Dart Streams, bringing in more flexibility and control.įlutter applications usually have to deal with asynchronous data streams extensively - be it user interactions, network responses, or data changes. So, how does RxDart connect with Dart Streams? Dart comes equipped with a powerful Streams API out-of-the-box. RxDart in Flutter has become increasingly popular due to its seamless capabilities in managing asynchronous data stream challenges. It’s not an attempt to replace Dart Streams but embellishes them with the goodness of reactive programming. Think of user interactions, API responses, or even animations - Reactive Programming handles them all.Įnter RxDart - a reactive streaming extension library built on top of Dart Streams. RxDart was designed for asynchronous programming with an emphasis on concurrency and parallelism, while Dart Streams can be used for both synchronous and asynchronous programming but don’t have the same emphasis on concurrency and parallelism.Reactive Programming is a paradigm that has gained substantial recognition for managing asynchronous data streams and handling reactive user interfaces, among other things. This signal is useful for determining when to clean up resources associated with the stream or when to perform additional processing after the stream has finished. A completion signal is a notification that a stream has completed its work and will not emit any more events. RxDart’s observables can push data, errors, and completion signals, whereas Dart Streams only emit data events and can throw errors but don’t have a built-in completion signal. This is because RxDart requires us to implement the BLoC library manually using streams, while flutter_bloc gives us widgets and functions that help us easily create the BLoC pattern. When it comes to implementing the BLoC pattern, RxDart has a steeper learning curve than flutter_bloc. The flutter_bloc library and RxDart are challenging to learn, especially for people new to reactive programming. It provides a way to handle complex data flows and streamline development. It doesn’t necessarily have to be used to implement the BLoC pattern. RxDart, on the other hand, is a more general-purpose library that can be used in any Dart project. It it’s a more focused solution that provides a clear separation of concerns. The flutter_bloc library is designed specifically for Flutter development and provides a way to separate the business logic from the UI. ![]() Differences between flutter_bloc library and RxDartīLoC and RxDart are both powerful state management solutions, but they have some key differences. It gives it superpowers that help us gain more stream classes, operators, and subjects. What RxDart does is add to Dart’s original Streams API. If you want a refresher on what streams are, you can go back to the Streams lesson of this course. This is the paradigm that Dart’s Streams API originally helped us obtain. Reactive programming is a programming paradigm that enables developers to write asynchronous, event-driven code. It’s based on the ReactiveX API, which is a popular API for reactive programming. RxDart is a library that provides reactive programming extensions to Dart. Both of these solutions help us implement the BLoC pattern in their own ways. The flutter_bloc library and RxDart are both popular state management solutions. This lesson will explain the difference between the flutter_bloc library and RxDart and discuss how RxDart works. ![]()

And, like all good marketing vehicles, your resume will be the first chance that a hiring manager gets to size you up. Instead, it's a marketing piece designed to introduce you to a prospective employer. The first thing that every job seeker needs to understand is that the resume is not just a formulaic presentation of your job history and skills. How to make a good first impression with your resume Fortunately, we've compiled some great tips and recommendations that you can use to update your resume, so that it makes the perfect first impression you need for job search success. To do that, you need to make sure that you include the right substance, with the right focus, presented in the most compelling way possible. You can avoid falling into that trap by taking the time to ensure that your resume is tailored in a way that makes the perfect first impression on that hiring manager. Now, that impression can be based on any number of factors, including insufficient qualifications, poor presentation, a failure to focus on the job's needs, and more. And guess which resumes they automatically exclude from consideration when they're selecting candidates to interview? That's right: the ones that make a bad impression. After all, that first impression is likely to be the only chance you'll get to capture a hiring manager's attention before they make a yes or no decision about progressing your application.Įmployers typically need to filter through dozens or even hundreds of resumes to narrow their search for qualified candidates. When it comes to job seeking, however, it's easy to argue that it is even more important to make a great first impression with your resume. Even political candidates rely on their skills at making positive impressions on voters. That includes personal and romantic relationships, customer and client relations, and the job search itself. Why does a first impression matter for your resume success?įirst impressions are important in almost every area of life. Of course, the best way to make a pre-interview positive impression is through your resume. But is there a way to achieve that before the interview? The answer is obvious: yes! In fact, you must strive to do so because that's the best way to ensure that you get the opportunity of an interview in the first place. Naturally, all of those visible and audible factors are important for making a great first impression during a job interview. Even little things like eye contact and your willingness to smile can play an important role in making the best possible impression. People who meet you for the first time can be influenced by everything from your clothes and overall demeanor to your posture, body language, and speaking style. When it comes to making a positive first impression, there are many factors in play. This is because many people form a concrete assessment of those around them based primarily on that initial first impression. For most people, that initial first impression may be the only impression that matters. After all, if it's called a “first” impression, that would seem to imply that you can make a second or even third impression - right? As it turns out, however, it's not that simple. These initial assessments are what we usually call first impressions.Īt first glance, it might be tempting to assume that first impressions are not all that important. Everyone who meets you, reads something that you wrote, or hears you speak forms an initial assessment and judgment about you. Well, the same holds true for them as well. The way they talk, dress, employ body language, or communicate in emails and texts can all influence your perception of them as a person. Whether you realize it or not, your brain is always assessing people that you meet. ![]() We'll also present some tips that you can use to make the right impression and provide some great first impression examples that you can use to create an even more compelling resume. But have you ever taken the time to think about how it applies to your job search? Chances are that you apply this thinking when you choose your attire for an interview - but do you give the same amount of consideration to whether your resume is making the right first impression? ![]() That idea is embodied in quotes like “dress to impress” and is something that most of us learn at a relatively early age. Tessera in turn may arise from the Greek word tessares, meaning four. In fact, the word "tessellation" derives from tessella, the diminutive form of the Latin word tessera, an individual, typically square, tile in a mosaic. Escher, or the breathtaking tile work of the 14th century Moorish fortification, the Alhambra, in Granada, Spain. Like π, e and φ, examples of these repeating patterns surround us every day, from mundane sidewalks, wallpapers, jigsaw puzzles and tiled floors to the grand art of Dutch graphic artist M.C. Science, nature and art also bubble over with tessellations. It even bears a relationship to another perennial pattern favorite, the Fibonacci sequence, which produces its own unique tiling progression. The golden ratio (φ) formed the basis of art, design, architecture and music long before people discovered it also defined natural arrangements of leaves and stems, bones, arteries and sunflowers, or matched the clock cycle of brain waves. Euler's number (e) rears its head repeatedly in calculus, radioactive decay calculations, compound interest formulas and certain odd cases of probability. Pick apart any number of equations in geometry, physics, probability and statistics, even geomorphology and chaos theory, and you'll find pi (π) situated like a cornerstone. Tessellations - gapless mosaics of defined shapes - belong to a breed of ratios, constants and patterns that recur throughout architecture, reveal themselves under microscopes and radiate from every honeycomb and sunflower. Mathematics achieves the sublime sometimes, as with tessellations, it rises to art. Within its figures and formulas, the secular perceive order and the religious catch distant echoes of the language of creation. We study mathematics for its beauty, its elegance and its capacity to codify the patterns woven into the fabric of the universe. ![]() ![]() ![]() Pixlr, on the other hand, only shares the lack of adjustment layers from that list, and isn’t at all obnoxious to work in. ![]() Those are three really big things for me, and coupled with the annoying interface I was irritated beyond belief when trying to complete my whole edit in GIMP. Palettes, toolbox, and image are all separate windows, which means I have to click back on my image before entering a quick key… which makes it not quick… which makes it useful how? There is something about the way it is set up that makes it unpleasant to work in, and who wants to be irritated by their editing software? Trouble with GIMPĪs far as technical negatives with GIMP, there are three major ones that stick out for me: limited size of the brush (which I’m sure if I could write code I could change, but really, what a stupid thing to do), no adjustment layers (all adjustments, in order to be non-destructive, must occur on a new merged layer), and, this one is only for Mac users I believe, separate windows for each item. It’s possible that if I weren’t one of Photoshop’s biggest cheerleaders, I wouldn’t find it so, but I’ve checked in with a good number of people and almost everyone I’ve talked to agrees. I am hesitant to admit that since becoming an iPhone user I have gained an appreciation for overdone, stereotypical photo effects. There is one thing I will give Picnik – it has fun effects. I didn’t end up trying all of Picnik’s features, because I didn’t find it to be an enjoyable experience.īased on user experience, and especially when we are talking about low-intensity users, I would have to choose Picasa. For me, a huge factor in photo editing is how easy the program is to play around in, how much I enjoy being in there. Realistically, you’re going to get similar edits out of both as all the basics are there: red eye removal, saturation, contrast, crop, rotate, those bits and pieces. Since I can see no advantage of using an online one, it’s a lose-lose scenario for me. The features are similar, but Picnik is an online app, and I just don’t trust online apps – they get real slow, real fast. Hands down I’ll recommend Picasa over Picnik. Here's what you can do with Picasa The perils of online apps Although, I’m willing to bet your camera came with software that could do all the same things. Picasa-as well Picnik-both do generalised editing, which for the snaps coming out of your point-and-shoot camera are fine. My number one reason? No localised edits, save for a retouch brush for blemishes. ![]() I don’t, however, use Picasa as a standalone app. Picasa web albums are my favourite way to share my photos with clients. I use a whole lot of their products for a variety of things. I’m not gonna lie, I’m a giant Google fan. If you need really basic alterations and really awesome organisation, as well as somewhere online to store and share, Picasa is for you. The kindle handle them better than the kobo, it can zoom and move faster, I will be able to re-find/re-take them in any version of the book in any case with very small effort, even on a paper one or if I buy a new ereader. I particularly like these details because it means that I can save them basically forever, even if I don't review my notes after finishing a book. With the kobo you can extract your hightlights/notes with a little more details (chapter name/number). With the kindle, even if the book is well formatted, you can't see the chapter, but just a reference number that I don't know what it means. Things change if you want to export them on Calibre with the plugins annotations (for kindle or kobo) or kobo utilities (just for kobo).
